An integrated Safety; Health and Environment (“SHE”) system is key to RBCT’s operations. RBCT pursues Health, Safety, Environment and Compliance (“HSEC”) excellence through a collective effort from all stakeholders.
RBCT’s primary HSEC objectives are to:
- Protect the health of employees, contractors and visitors;
- Uphold safety and prevent injury to them;
- Minimise adverse environmental impacts from operations; and
- Comply with all applicable Legislation and Standards.
These commitments are enshrined in RBCT’s SHE Policy, which sets out the manner in which RBCT will comply, conserve and monitor in pursuit of upholding its SHE commitments. In addition, this will ensure that all RBCT’s stakeholders are empowered to do the same. RBCT continues to comply with the Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems (RBCT’s ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015).
RBCT’s comply with national and international best practice, as well as the relevant Acts and Standards:
- Occupational Health and Safety Act 85 of 1993;
- National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998;
- ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management System;
- ISO 45001:2018 – Health and Safety Management System;
- SANS 16001:2013 Wellness and Disease Management System;
- SANS 3000 Railway Safety System; and
- Contractor Management System.
RBCT is:
- A signatory to the Energy Efficiency Accord in 2006; and
- A Voluntary Signatory to the United Nations Global Compact Agreement and committed to its 10 Principles in the areas of human rights, labour and anti-corruption.
RBCT holds:
- A Terminal Operator Licence;
- SANS 3000 Licence (Rail Operators Licence);
- Air Emission Licence;
- Water Use Licence; and
- Scheduled Trade Permit.
